What wil bring 2018 for CARAT+?
What will 2018 bring for CARAT+?
An interview with CARAT+ founder Filip Van Laere
Five months already separate us from the launch of the first ever edition of CARAT+, a good time to look back on what has been achieved and what the future holds for this new trade-show. And none the better to ask than CARAT+ Founder Filip Van Laere.
What are your main conclusions after the CARAT+ debut last May?
"Generally speaking, I believe the whole CARAT+ team looks back on a very satisfying experience: hard work and an inspired vision have allowed us to create a new trade-show, focussed on diamonds and diamond-jewellery, and to firmly position CARAT+ on the international trade-show calendar right from its first edition. We understand both from our 120 exhibitors as from our 2.927 visitors that they really enjoyed the fresh breeze we brought to this kind of event, the overall elegance of the show and the attention to detail in every aspect."
What were the main highlights for you personally?
"Frankly speaking, the sheer fact of creating an event of this scale in less than a year’s time was a great source of satisfaction, but my personal highlight was the massive vibe during the gala-evening, where we celebrated the launch with Italian actress Catherina Murino and some 1.800 first-time guests. There was some magic in the air that night, and I understood that we had just created a new and meaningful platform for the international diamond community. That was a very defining moment, and it will continue to inspire us in everything we do for the future of CARAT+."
So what are the plans for the second edition?
"As we seem to have found the right format for the show right from the start, we have one main area of focus for the next edition of CARAT+ (6-8 May, 2018), and that is to bring more visitors to get to know and enjoy our event. With first-time exhibitors happy to come back to CARAT+ – to date, already close to 50% of available space is booked! - we invest all our time and effort towards this single goal."
Key-elements in this strategy are far-reaching international agreements with new partners and associations, the addition of coloured gems as a new product-category to the show and tailor-made visitor programmes for specific segments.
As time goes on, all these programmes will be implemented and communicated, and I’m convinced they will bring great energy and excitement to CARAT+.
